Slate is a fine-grained, layered, homogeneous metamorphic rock that is usually formed from the slate deposits. Slate is mainly composed of mica, chlorite and quartz. Characteristically, rocks can be split into plates that are relatively thinner and break easily. Some tiles polish very well, beautiful, and are less expensive than most other wall and floor coverings. The board has a fine to medium grain surface structure. It gives a very elegant and natural finish to any building or home.
Slate can be processed into roof panels, also called roof tiles. Slate tiles are commonly used for indoor and outdoor floor or wall cladding. Sealers are commonly used on tiles to improve durability and appearance, increase stain resistance, reduce efflorescence, and increase or decrease surface. Slab has been used as a building block in gardens, homes, hospitals, hotels, resorts, offices as tablecloths, countertops, walkways, surrounds, mantles and signage for many years. The silky texture and superb finish give the Slate Stone a unique shine. We can offer slate in a variety of finishes and shapes, cut to order. The naturally non-slip surface can be scrubbed or sealed with clear varnish after repair. Combining the durability and beauty of stone with the functionality of ordinary tiles, this building material offers the best of both worlds. From a design standpoint, slate brings timeless style to gardens, kitchens, patios, roofs and decks.
